Crispy chia pizza crust

Pizza doesn't always have to be unhealthy! Use chia seeds, the super food, to form the base of your crust for a crispy pizza treat.


1/4 cup of chia seeds

3/4 cup of water

3 tablespoons of gluten-free flour (e.g. buckwheat or oat flour)

1 teaspoon of dried oregano or rosemary

1 tablespoon of pine nuts, raw or roasted, finely chopped

2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, finely chopped

1 teaspoon of sea salt


Preheat the oven to 350F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Combine the chia seeds, water, flour, oregano and salt and set aside until the mixture begins to thicken (you will notice the chia seeds expanding as they absorb the water).

Add in the pine nuts and pumpkin seeds.

Spread out the mixture on the parchment paper and use the back of a spoon to spread into a thin crust. 

Bake in the oven for around 30-40 minutes. When firm, remove from the oven and add your favourite toppings - these could include tomato paste and fresh vegetables. 

Return pizza to the oven and bake for a further 10 minutes. Serve immediately!
