Did you overindulge a little over Easter? Eat a few too many eggs? Scoff down too many hot cross buns? Feeling a bit worse for wear and sorry for yourself now? I bet you are. Don’t dismay, there is a solution and it is very simple – stop. Right now. Acknowledge that you enjoyed your chocolate/bun overload and move on. Recognise also that Easter is now over for another year and it is time to get back on track with healthy eating and exercise. So, what can you do?
As with any overindulgence, start by removing the poison that got you there. As I mentioned above, Easter is over. If you still have hundreds of eggs left over, get rid of them. Give them to friends or family, donate them, or melt them down into baked goods that you can take into the office (and refrain from eating yourself!) If you have left over chocolate in the house, I guarantee you will continue to eat it until it’s gone, all under the guise that “it’s Easter” so you are able to justify it to yourself. Just don’t. Act now before you regret it later.
Feel like you’ve put on a few kilos over the holiday weekend? Time to get back into the gym and hit it hard. Losing weight and toning up is easy, you just have to commit to it. Instead of snoozing in the mornings, get up earlier and get your sweat on, even if it’s just for half an hour. Everything makes a difference and your body will tighten up in no time.
Get back into clean, healthy eating. I am not a fan of juices at all, but if it makes you feel better, have a couple of green (veggie only) juices to get some vital nutrients back into your body and to help flush out the toxins from the crap you ingested on the weekend. Go back to eating salads for lunch and light protein with vegetables for dinner. Keep snacks light and fulfilling, such as a handful of nuts or an apple with a few slices of cheese.
Above all, don’t use your Easter blowout as an excuse to keep continuing down that path. A week from now you will only feel more disgusting, more flabby and less energised. It is time to take the bull by the horns now and get back on track. So start today – get rid of those eggs, I dare you!
