Today I am honoured to feature a guest post by Australian television personality, personal trainer and author Blake Worrall-Thompson. Blake has been a contributor to many well known Australian health and fitness publications, and is also the online fitness expert for the Lifestyle YOU channel.
I asked Blake to stop by and give his advice on the most sustainable and efficient burning workouts.
“If you are after the most sustainable and efficient fat burning workouts, there are a number of things to consider:
Although I’m not based in commercial gyms anymore, on the odd occasion I do go in there, I notice the same thing: people not working at a high enough intensity. Don’t get me wrong, being in there is better than doing nothing at all, but most people need to rev up the intensity of their workouts.
Do you remember the first time you tried new exercise? You were pretty sore afterwards, weren’t you? That is how it should be. Not that I want you crippled on a daily basis, but that soreness is a good sign that you’re really challenging your body. Change up your program every 3 – 4 weeks.
3. Weights are awesome for you
I can PROMISE you, that after 11 years of personal training, weights don’t make you bulky. In my most successful fat loss program, “6 Weeks to Sexy”, the girls train with weights 3 days a week and cardio 2 days a week, and a lot of them have the best bodies I’ve ever seen.
4. Exercise is only one piece of the (gluten-free) pie
If you are SERIOUS about getting in to the best condition of your life, it is important to address your health from a number of different areas. Obviously exercise is great, but without good nutrition, your results will be slow.
Also, consider your sleep patterns, stress levels, current mindset, hydration and your overall lifestyle approach."
