Brooklyn is known for its fabulous offering of restaurants, and healthy eateries fit into this spattering of hip and slightly off-beat venues perfectly. Siggy’s Good Food is one such find, not far from the Brooklyn Bridge, that satisfies many a hungry, healthy foodie crossing over from Manhattan.
The best thing about Siggy’s? It is 100% organic. Diners can be fooled these days when eating at organic restaurants, where not every element of the menu is guaranteed to be organic. Customers can rest assured at Siggy’s, as the food is as organic as it is fresh, local and sustainable. The menu offers a mix of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes which are presented delicately yet with bold flavours. Stand out items include the vegan and gluten free Live Earth Salad as well as the homemade hummus plate. The hummus is just as it should be – earthy, creamy and deliciously garlicky. The sandwich selection is interesting and the portions large. Fillings encompass delicacies such as yellow fin tuna and grass fed flank steak. Other classic options are the Magic Burgers, with choice of brioche, gluten free bun, wrap or over greens.
Siggy’s is packed on weekends with eager tourists and locals alike vying for a table in the very small space. The outside tables out the front make for a nice street-side setting when the weather permits.
Prices are very reasonable given the portion sizes. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, which helps when trying to decide what to order from the comprehensive selection of goodies. A full juice bar also offers fresh fruit and vegetable juices. A great find in Brooklyn for a fresh, healthy and satisfying meal. Oh and don't forget, aliens eat free.
